Challenge authentication broken?

My Python-based client has been returning consistent timeouts on a challenge/response-based authentication for about the last 90 minutes. LiveJournal in general seems slow, but the site otherwise seems to be working. Anyone else having problems? Is there some kind of issue affecting the auth API?
