remotely posting with PHP4

I'm creating a custom blog on another site and I want the users to have the option of having their posts automatically cross-posted to their corresponding LJ account. I'm using PHP4. Is there any documentation anywhere on how to do this?

I found a class on www.PHPClasses.org that looked promising, but it fails with an error (Call to a member function on a non-object in .../jjport.php on line 53) which I suspect is due to the fact that it was written for PHP5. I can't upgrade to PHP5 at the moment for technical reasons.

I don't need full support for all the LJ features. All I really need is the subject and the body to be cross-posted to LJ.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
