Newbie Asks: How... etc.

I really hope I'm posting this in the right place. First, I am not a code monkey, but can generally find my away around provided I have examples and some instruction. I can also be blind as bat flying into the sun... although not as crispy.

What do I want to do? I'd like to set up a little personal LiveJournal like system on my DreamHost server.

I see the code here: http://code.sixapart.com/svn/livejournal/ At least I think that's the current code.

But what I'm lacking are the basic instructions OR... at this point, I may be willing to pay someone to set this up for me.

Any comments... takers... perls of wisdom?
