Linux stupidness

I think the problem with kenny unable to create sockets isn't a client side (freebsd, kenny) problem, but cartman's (linux) fault.

What can I check in Linux to see why new inbound sockets can't be created? Netstat is quite different there.

DBI->connect(livejournal:lj-co-cartman) failed: Can't create TCP/IP socket (55)
