S2: Client Side Scripting Support?

Introduction: I just joined this community, and appreciate the discussions going on. Mostly I'm just an interested end user, although I hope my experience as a developer might be of some value to the community as well in thinking through development issues and questions. Otherwise, my LiveJournal dev interest is limited to making S2 layouts (the first of which I just launched on tyrven).

That said, my question: Are there plans to allow Client Side Scripting (e.g., JavaScript) to S2 Layouts?

Right now client side scripts are filtered out during the S2 Layout compilation process, it would seem (I didn't see this documented, to note). I can understand completely the challenges that client side scripting introduces, although it would also allow allow layout designers to do some really neat stuff.

Thoughts?
