LJ layouts not valid HTML

I've been multitasking between debugging on this slowlaris box and trying out various LJ layouts. It turns out that Component is the most valid (least invalid rather) of the layouts. Most of them don't even have the doctype set! Maybe I want to get involved in the development of this otherwise fantastic website.
