I think this new update to WordJournal (that’s what I’m calling it now) is the best yet. All you have to do to create a journal entry is type exactly how you normally would in Word. You can use fonts, colors, lists, tables, hyperlinks, and just about anything else you want. As always, anything that Word would consider a picture if you were to save the document as a web page will need to be up on a web server and have an image tag for it to appear. Just about everything else should work though.

When you’re ready to post an entry, click on the “Get HTML” button. This copies the appropriate code to the clipboard. Then you can open whatever LiveJournal client you use, and paste it straight in. Make sure to that you have your client set so it doesn’t auto-format your text. In Semagic and the Visions client, the option to do that is under “Post Options”. If you notice the picture, you’ll see that I included all of the old buttons, even though many of them are unnecessary. I did this in case people wanted to continue the old cut-and-paste method.

Unnecessary Buttons

  • Bold
  • Italics
  • Underline
  • Strike
  • Big Text
  • Superscript
  • Subscript
  • Font
  • Heading
  • Indent Text
  • Paragraph
  • Center Text
  • Unordered List
  • Insert Item

As always, I’m very interested to hear what people think. That’s especially true if you find bugs in the program. I hope you like it. You can download it here. If you want to receive updates, add wordjournal to your friends list.
