Two frequent problems

We're seeing loads of support requests on these problems over the past few days, and I'm wondering if perhaps there's a problem.

First problem: Users attempting to edit their bio do not have a text box to type into. No seeming pattern to browser or OS, but one user can edit the bio on one account and not on the other. Root cause: users hadn't converted to UTF-8.


Second problem: Users cannot remain logged out. They log out, return to their journal, and are automatically logged back in.

I know that at least the second problem might stem from the recent changes to how cookies are handled; does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
