flash client

I'm in the process of creating a flash client for lj (for the heck of it.) Theres a slight problem with security. If I host the client on my server for people to access, then livejournal needs to have a cross-domain policy file available so that flash will connect (see )

I have absolutely no idea who to contact to see if lj could make this available.

Any ideas?

Time for a revamp!

This page needs an update about all the nifty open source LJ projects LJ is involved in and supports.

Sometimes I try to explain people about all the nifty stuff LJ devs have done, but I'd love to be able to point them to a page talking about what they are and who uses them. Too many people think "LJ is open source" just means that LJ clones (usually running older code bases) exist.

So what should be included, and how should it be worded so it is impressive yet accessible to people with not much technical background?

s2 bounty

Starting next week, we'll be organizing an S2 bug-fixing bounty! What this means:

We'll list off some bugs in various S2 layouts. Some might require knowing how to code S2, and some might require CSS knowledge, and perhaps some might require digging into the guts of S2 itself. Any bug that you successfully fix will earn you an LJ gift certificate in some amount, depending on the complexity of the bug. We'll also have bundles of bugs -- probably five to a group -- and fixing all bugs in that group will earn you an Amazon gift certificate.

I'm still working on figuring out exact details, but that's what I'm envisioning for now. I'll post next week with more information -- specific rules, a list of bugs, how to submit fixes, and bounties for each bug squished. Until then, I wanted to post to start getting the word out. If you know anyone who's good at figuring out S2 layouts, please tell them to watch this community! I know there's a lot of great talent among the userbase, and so this lets you guys get something in exchange for sharing that talent with us. :)

So, spread the word. :) And let me know if you have questions -- I might not be able to answer them immediately, but your questions will help me make sure that we've got all our bases covered. :)
