Protocol support for comments [Dec. 23rd, 2003|01:17 pm]

How difficult would it be to implement comment downloading in the protocol? It just seems to me that this would be a very useful feature to have. I searched recently, and saw that someone had been working on implementing this last August (gettalk/getcomments http://www.livejournal.com/community/lj_dev/565934.html), but in looking through the source I checked out of CVS I cannot find anything.

I have no experience programming in PERL, but would be willing to look into it to add this feature. Could someone point me in the right direction as far as which parts of the source I should be looking at, whether I should be modifying existing files or making new ones for this functionality, and what parts of the database are relevant to this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance.

S2 Core Layer ReplyForm bug [Dec. 23rd, 2003|03:57 pm]

I posted this to support, but I thought maybe someone here might be able to help me a bit too:

I'm trying to make a new S2 layout, and I'm working on the ReplyPage class, but I'm noticing that the ReplyForm print() function spews out table code that doesn't have properly matching table row and element tags. Specifically, the row that looks like this:

<tr valign='middle'><td> </td><td align=middle><input type='radio' name='usertype' value='user' id='talkpostfromlj' /></td><td align='left'><b><label for='talkpostfromlj'>LiveJournal user:</label></b> </tr>

is missing the final </td> tag, which is messing up the entire page's layout. There might be more, but there's at least that one. What can I do? I can't overwrite this function, since it's built in and not accessible through S2.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
