Hi.

I'm Dan. I'm from Ohio. I have the usual array of webdev skills (js, xml, php, perl, mysql, etc) and I can do a bit of C++/VB as well. I'm not too familiar with the BML system, but that will change.

Most of what I am interested in is developing a system in which different journal systems can work together. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has friends using diaryland, blogger, or xanga, or even hosting their journal on their own site. Now, I am convinced that there is a solution to this, and that solution lies in XML (RSS?). Livejournal's syndication features are a gigantic leap forward in this direction, as well as their journal RSS feeds. But, if you would want to add people to your friends' list that are using one of the other blogging systems, you're stuck. If there were some sort of standard developed in conjunction with some of the other major players in the blogging world in which all blogging sites could allow their journals to be syndicated, it would be great indeed...perhaps other sites would even start implementing universal LJ-style friends pages.

If I could be of use on any LJ-related project, just let me know...one of these days I want to get my hands on a permanent account. ;)
