The apache servers at are all running FreeBSD, right? It's the DB servers that have the RAID arrays, running Debian.

Which version of each is it?

Yes, this has some relevance. ;-)

I'm thinking of implementing some way of dealing with pre-formatted HTML comments in text-only comment notifications. (Currently, they show up as one big ugly block of text with tags inline.) Lynx can do this with the -dump and -nolist options, as can a proggie I've run across called html2txt. Perl can do it too, I'm sure (well, of course it can.)

Either way would create some kind of new dependency for LiveJournal. So which do you think is better, to call some precompiled app written in C from perl, or to write the thing in perl itself? I think the first would be faster, but it's a bit messier, and I've been wrong before. :-).

Perl Dev Question

I don't know where else to put this, so I'll try here. Has anyone else used Getopt::Long? I'm trying to get it ito use bundling so that instead of " -y -e -s" I could do " -yes" but it doesn't work.

According to this page all you have to do is enable bundling with a config option. But config, nor configure seem to be a valid part of the package. I can't seem to find it anyway, and CPAN doesn't have Getopt::Long::Configure. Am I missing something?
