Small Bug in talk code [Jun. 8th, 2001|02:34 am]
LiveJournal Development

The preview function on the message boards doesn't escape BML, while the BML in the posts is actually escaped when it appears on talkread.

This should be an easy enough fix if someone's bored and wants to spend a few minutes on it! ;)

http HEAD bug ? [Jun. 8th, 2001|04:21 am]
LiveJournal Development

Just something strange i noticed - when I request a HEAD from livejournal, it not only returns me the headers, but also part of my journal. not all of it - the top part is missing. but the rest of it. Im guessing its possibly Big/IP thing, cos im sure ive done HEADs on LJ before without this happening.

Userinfo patch [Jun. 8th, 2001|07:29 pm]
LiveJournal Development

I rewrote the userinfo patch, removing external dependencies and speeding up the code. Here's the new version, and here's a tarball. Evan, if you want to redraw the arrows to add proper 3D shading, now's your chance.

It's LJ time... [Jun. 8th, 2001|07:55 pm]
LiveJournal Development

I'm done with school now for 3 months, so I'm going to be doing LJ development all summer, many hours per day.

I have a backlog of 57 emails in my lj/todo folder. In addition to those, my big goals over the next few days are:

-- new source release
-- get everything into CVS (the repositories are setup)
-- write a better INSTALL document
-- internationalization & customization

There are 4 or 5 people that have offered to translate LJ into different languages. BML makes this really easy (we used it on freevote to translate into tons of languages) but I'm going to review that code since it's damn old and see if I can't improve it first.

I want to eventually remove all strings from BML files and move them into resource files. Then, when sites like deadjournal.com want to use LJ's code, but customize the wording, they'll still be able to upgrade to new versions easily. Cool, ja?
