I threw together a LiveJournal checkfriends plugin for GKrellM. It takes up a few pixels on the side of your screen, polls LiveJournal, and lets you know when your friends page has been updated. Get it here, or glance at a screenshot.

Protocol support for uploading pictures [Apr. 15th, 2001|12:49 pm]

I extended the protocol to add support for uploading pictures, wrote a little test command-line client to upload pictures through the protocol, and modified uploadpic_do.bml to go through the protocol.

The server code diffs, test client, and description of the protocol extension are all on my web site. If you're a Unix CLI-addict you might find the test client nice to have around for general use.

Naturally, this all needs to get vetted by Brad, so it might change before it goes live on www.livejournal.com. But it works on my server.

Calling all Palm users and Win32 developers! [Apr. 15th, 2001|04:20 pm]

First of all, I'm pleased to announce that I finally got post-on-hotsync into PalmLJ (about a week later than I intended). You should probably erase the last version from your Palm before you install this one, since the prefs are incompatible.

The source tarball includes my sample conduit for pilot-link, which should work on unix systems.

If anyone out there is a win32 coder, I'd really appreciate it if you could write a win32 conduit for PalmLJ. Respond if you have even a shread of win32 experience in you :)

Webcam32 support? [Apr. 15th, 2001|07:08 pm]

I havent read right back through lj_dev, so correct mei f this has been covered.

I've seen a few users (such as basschick) putting webcam images, and I thought to myself "hey wouldn't it be cool if LJ update software could take a snapshot from your cam (or a preset URL) and parse the entry so it includes the image.... this would be as simple as adding a left aligned IMG SRC or whatever...

Might be an interesting project from someone out there, I sure as hell can't/won't do it cause I have the coding skills of an eggplant.

Anyway, lemme know what you think... And if someone has found a quick'n'easy way to do this, drop me a comment.

Cheers,
~c~
