Licensing of LiveJournal Code

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm sure you'll know the answer.

I am working on:

http://www.meriteconomy.org/

Rather than reinvent the wheel, I would like to use some code from LiveJournal. LiveJournal's webpage says that it is "open source" but I can't for the life of me find information on the site about what this means. What license is it released under? GPL? I would like to release my work under the GPL, so I hope the license is at least GPL compatible. LiveJournal's websites repeatedly state that it is open-source and that the code is freely available, but I can't find any explicit mention of what terms the code is available under. I think it would be great if you would make the answer to this question more prominent! :-)
